Communicate With Your Guardian Angels

Catholics Venerate the Saints, Especially the Holy Mother Mary. We do NOT worship them. We see them as Intercessors Who, Being in The Presence of God are in a Position to Carry Our Prayers and Plead on Our Behalf. Angels Were Never Incarnate Beings but Remain Direct Agents Of God Who Can Directly Assist Us and Bring Our Prayers and Intentions to Him For Us.

To communicate with your guardian angels, talk to them intentionally through thought, prayer, or by speaking out loud to share your thoughts, feelings, and requests. You can also ask for their guidance, protection, or help with specific situations. Pay attention to signs, dreams, and synchronicities, as angels often communicate through everyday occurrences.

So, wait, what are Guardian Angels?

Guardian angels are believed to be spiritual beings, of tremendous power, often a type of angel, assigned to protect and guide a specific person, group, or nation from birth until death. They are seen as mediators who deliver grace, reveal truth, and protect from evil, acting as a personal bodyguard and spiritual helper. This belief is present in various religions, including Christianity, Islam, and Judaism, where angels are thought to serve as protectors, guides, and messengers.

Role and function

  • Protection: Guardian angels are believed to protect people from both physical and spiritual danger. They are not meant to prevent all harm or evil from affecting us, otherwise the whole concept of salvation, involving mankind showing the individuals true nature would be thwarted by preventing exactly that nature from appearing. We each must be allowed to grow or evolve to our true nature such that when we return to God we stand as creatures of light or darkness. Free to claim the sacrifice of Jesus and be saved or unable to approach light and Love. So yes, bad things and bad people will still affect us. In such cases the angels help get us through these experiences, spiritually at least.
  • Guidance: They are thought to help guide individuals, offering moral support and directing them toward the right path.
  • Intercession: They can act as intercessors, conveying prayers to and grace from God.
  • Presence: According to tradition, a guardian angel remains with a person throughout their entire life.

Religious context

  • Christianity: The Catholic Church, for example, believes that a guardian angel stands by each believer as a protector and shepherd.
  • Islam: Muslims believe that guardian angels are assigned to each person, with shifts changing throughout the day and night.
  • Judaism: Belief in guardian angels is present in ancient Judaism, and their role is seen as protectors and messengers sent by God.

Practices and beliefs

  • Some people pray to their guardian angels for assistance and protection.
  • In certain traditions, like Slavic Orthodox Christianity, there is a specific feast day to honor guardian angels.
  • Some teachings suggest that performing good deeds can also lead to the creation of angels that help and guide a person. Other teachings say that an angel will always appear as soon as a need arises.

What Are Some Methods for Communicating With Our Guardian Angels?

  • Talk to them mentally: Direct your thoughts to your guardian angel, whether you are in a store line or any other part of your day, and share what is on your mind.
  • Angels cannot read your mind, so in order to communicate with your angel, you must talk to them or at least direct your thoughts intentionally to them. Tell them what is going on inside your head. Ask him to bring your worries, anxieties, joys, etc. to God. He loves you and, like any good friend, wants to know what is going on in your life. Tell them!
  • Pray and ask for guidance: Ask your guardian angel for what you need. They want to help with things like fear, anxiety, or confusion. I do not ‘pray to’ my angels in the same way I would pray to God. Instead my prayers deliberately focus on asking their help in seeking God's favor or on specifically empowering angelic assistance in my life. I’ll give examples of such prayers later.
  • Say good morning: Start your day by acknowledging your guardian angel with a simple greeting, either out loud or in your mind. Thank them for their night watch over you and ask them to assist with your thoughts, prayers, actions and intentions throughout the day, that they all be in keeping with God’s intentions.
  • Create a sacred space: Use prayers or listen to uplifting music to help you feel more connected. Since Guardian Angels are sealed to the individual, creating sacred space for your angel is more a matter of giving them inner, prayerful space while you communicate with them and wait for their responses.
  • Write or keep a dream journal: Before sleeping, ask your angel for guidance in your dreams. Keep a notebook by your bed to jot down anything you can remember upon waking. Sometimes, especially with deliberate practice, your angel may assist you through writing. You simply write the thoughts that occur to you. The results may surprise you.

How to receive messages

  • Look for signals: Pay attention to signs like repeating numbers, feathers, or other synchronistic events in your daily life.
  • Notice feelings: Angels can communicate through physical sensations such as tingling, a feeling of warmth, or a gentle touch. Sometimes your angels will try to get your attention through physical sensations like tingling, a feeling of warmth spreading over you, a light touch on your hand, a feeling of someone gently stroking your hair, or even a tangible presence in the room with you.
  • Trust your intuition: Your angels can provide inner guidance. Pay attention to your gut feelings and intuitive thoughts, especially during times of fear or sadness.
  • Ask your angel for the name they wish you to use for them. The human tongue cannot reproduce their language but they will give you a name they wish you to use for them. You may not immediately get this name but, with repeated asking it will ‘occur’ to you while praying or seemingly unrelated during your day yet with the awareness that this is the name you will use for them. Note that angels are not ‘gendered’ but can appear in any form and may give you a name that is feminine or masculine as suits the purpose for the two of you.

To Repeat in Point Form

  • Get into the habit of asking for your angels involvement.
  • Listen.Communication goes both ways.
  • Write with your guardian angel.
  • Ask for a signals.
  • Pay attention to the guidance you receive.
  • Stay in an energy of gratitude.
  • Release the outcome and trust in a plan better than your own.
  • Ask your guardian angel for their names if you feel called to do so.
  • Make a habit of opening your prayers and conversations with your angel with a specific address such as (Their name if they gave you one) Angel of God I speak to you today…and close always in the name of Jesus the Christ. This helps ensure your reverence for God and serves to protect you. Remember, Angels of God are not the only ‘angels’ who want to communicate with us.

Do not replace your prayers to Heavenly Father or your Saviour with prayers to your Angel. Angels are there to assist and guide us TO a relationship with God. They will pull back if you supplant reverence and prayers to God with prayers meant to go through them to God.

You Communicate With Your Guardian Angel - How May Your Guardian Angel Communicate With You?

St. Brigit

A Stained Glass Image of St. Brigit. As Catholics We Venerate Our Saints Who, Now as The Communion of Saints Continue to Act As Intercessors With God On  Our Behalf. Our Guardian Angels Are Assigned to Us Specifically to Assist and Protect Us Physically and Spiritually.

One of our angels' purposes is to help protect us. They can warn us of dangers/risks or delay us until it is safe again for us to proceed.

How do angels warn you?

  • Vivid dreams.
  • Uncomfortable gut feelings.
  • Sudden illnesses.
  • Mechanical failures.
  • Visions.
  • Physical sensations.
  • Angel numbers.
  • Sometimes, though rarely, you may hear a voice, even feel physically pushed or both.

Any of these may be your angels' attempt to sway you from a course of action, away from a location, person or event. Essentially to alert you, redirect you or delay you till a danger is past and your safety assured.

So, signs of an angelic presence can include physical sensations like sudden temperature changes (warmth or a cool breeze), unexpected scents, or the feeling of a light touch. You might also experience sensory phenomena like seeing light rays or sparks, hearing soft music or singing, or finding feathers. Emotional feelings of peace, love, or overwhelming emotion can also indicate their presence.

Physical and sensory signs

  • Temperature changes: A sudden warm glow or a cool breeze in a room can signify an angelic presence.
  • Light: You may catch glimpses of colored rays of light, sparks, or flashes of light.
  • Sounds: Hearing faint singing, music, or whispers without a clear source can be a sign.
  • Scents: Unexplained aromas appearing from nowhere, such as flowers or other pleasant smells.
  • Feathers: Finding feathers, especially white ones, in unexpected places like on furniture or on your desk. Different feather colors may have different meanings.
  • Touch: A feeling of being brushed against, a light touch on your head or shoulder, or a sensation like warm oil pouring over you.

Emotional and intuitive signs

  • Overwhelming feelings: A sudden, powerful feeling of peace, love, or comfort, sometimes accompanied by tears.
  • A sense of presence: A distinct feeling that you are not alone and that someone is standing near you or behind you that does NOT alarm you.
  • Dreams: Angels may appear in your dreams to communicate messages.

Angels are beings of immense power and knowledge. My Grannie used to tell me that there is a veil, a door between the powers of heaven and us here on earth and that the handle to that door is on our side. Meaning that God and all His agents respect our ‘free will’ (it’s free in terms of making choices yet each choice comes with consequences so, not free entirely). We must invoke or empower God and His Angels and Saints to act in our lives or they remain restricted in what they can do for us.

If you want a real relationship with God, His Angels or His Saints you must understand that they are always there, offering unlimited and non conditional Love yet we must agree to accept that Love and allow their direct and indirect assistance in our lives.

Yes every soul has a Guardian Angel trying to help and guide them through their individual incarnation experience. Yet what they can do is limited UNTIL the individual, YOU, give them permission empowering them to act fully in your life.

So, how do you accomplish this critical step?

You ask in prayer AND you actually give that required permission. You want God actively involved in your life? Ask Him, Father, I want and need You and your Love in my life. Give me faith, love and Your Grace that I might know Your Will and do my best to follow it. Give me the Love and forgiving gift of Our Saviors Sacrifice that I may one day return to Your presence and stand in Your Love from this day forward.

Do you want your Guardian Angel actively involved in your life instead of having only limited input? Ask them! I practice a minimum of morning (as soon as I wake up) and night prayers/conversations with my Angel. I doubt I ever say the same prayer twice but here are examples of each.

Angel Prayer-Morning

Angel of the Lord I ask you to keep my thoughts, prayers, actions, and all else about me in keeping with the Lord’s will on this day.  I ask for your loving protection over myself and in conjunction with all your peers in my family.  I thank you for all that you do and ask you to do all that you can for I understand you are limited when I do not ask.  I freely admit I do not know what to ask for but as an agent of God’s love I trust you to see my needs and fulfill them.  I thank you and I thank God for you.  In the name of Jesus the Christ amen.

Angel Prayer -Nighttime (right before sleep)

Angel of the Lord I thank you for all you’ve done for me this day for what you with your peers have done for my family and friends.  I ask you to continue to do all that is in your power to do for me though I freely admit I have no idea what all you’re capable of.  Still I ask you trusting that as an angel of God’s love you’ll always act on my best behalf.  I thank you again for this day and I ask that you continue your vigilance as I rest and should I not awaken. I ask that you carry me home to eternal joy for both of us in the name of Jesus the Christ Amen.

Although, as a bishop, I say the daily office, rosaries, Mass and various other prayers these are simply formal expressions and practices of my faith. All through my day (and if I wake during the night) I hold informal ‘conversations’ with my Guardian Angel, the Saints especially the Holy Mother and, absolutely with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

Jesus tells us that 21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’’ Matthew 7:21-23

Thus we understand two things to be required for our salvation, that we actually do the will of Heavenly Father and that we have a relationship with God and Jesus Christ. How do we get that relationship? We get to know each other by communicating often and deliberately. In the case of God or Jesus we do this by reading scriptures and praying (talking) to them.

The same is true for communication with our Guardian Angel. Study what scriptures tell us of them and talk, in prayer, with them.

We build relationships with God and His agents as we do with our fellow humans. Through sharing time, conversations, experiences and involvement/commitment to each other.

God gives us faith, grace, scriptures, church, angels and saints to help get us through this life and back with Him. If your area and home suffered a catastrophic flood, you climbed on your roof to survive and a canoe, a motorboat or a helicopter came along would you tell the person offering help ‘No, God will provide’ only to end up drowned and having to explain to Him why you didn’t take advantage of the canoe, motorboat or helicopter that He provided? Take advantage of ALL the aids God has provided us to help us in this life and assure our salvation. This includes empowering our Guardian Angels to do all in their tremendous power rather than the limited work they can do without our co-operation.
